Glossary term
Notify Party
The party a carrier informs when goods arrive, who need not be the consignee.
The party named on the transport document to be told of arrival. It is often the consignee’s broker or agent, and naming one does not give it any right to the goods - notification and entitlement are separate.
Where a bill is consigned to order, the notify party is frequently the only practical way the carrier knows whom to contact.
