Deviation
A departure from the agreed or customary route, which can affect a carrier’s liability and cargo insurance.
A departure from the contractual or usual route. Deviation to save life is protected; unjustified deviation can strip a carrier of contractual defences and, in some circumstances, prejudice cargo insurance.
