India sets new customs values for palm and soya oil, gold, silver and brass scrap from 31 October
India's customs duty on some edible oils, gold, silver and brass scrap is now worked out on new fixed values, from 31 October 2026.

Importers in India of palm oil, soya oil, gold, silver and brass scrap now pay duty on new fixed values. These "tariff values" are set by the government, not taken from the invoice.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issued Notification No. 89/2026-Customs (N.T.) on 30 October 2026. It says: "This notification shall come into force with effect from the 31 st day of October, 2026."
The new values, in US dollars, are:
- Crude palm oil: 1,174 per tonne
- RBD palm oil: 1,200 per tonne
- Other palm oil: 1,187 per tonne

This affects Indian importers of edible oils, bullion and brass scrap. It also affects their overseas suppliers and customs brokers.
The gold and silver values apply only to the forms named in the notice. Check the full text for those conditions.
The notice does not say when these values will next change.
What to check
- Which value applies to your goods from 31 October?
- Does your gold or silver match the forms named in the notice?
- Has your broker updated the values in its system?
