Haulage
The road or rail movement of goods, particularly the inland legs of a container journey.
Inland transport of cargo. In container shipping the distinction that matters commercially is who arranges it: carrier haulage is organised by the shipping line as part of its service, merchant haulage by the shipper or consignee. The choice affects cost, control and who is exposed to detention.
