DPU
Incoterms rule: the seller delivers and unloads at the named destination; the only rule requiring the seller to unload.
Delivered at Place Unloaded. The seller bears cost and risk to the named place and unloads the goods there.
It is the only Incoterms rule that obliges the seller to unload, which makes the choice of named place consequential: a seller agreeing to DPU at a location without suitable equipment has taken on an obligation it may not be able to perform.
Introduced in Incoterms 2020, replacing DAT. Import clearance remains the buyer’s responsibility, as under DAP.
