What changed

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a Federal Register notice on 27 October 2026 setting the payment date for the annual customs broker permit user fee. The notice says the fee "is assessed for each permit held by a customs broker, whether an individual, partnership, association, or corporation".

The notice states that "the customs broker permit user fee payable for calendar year 2027 will be $190.88."

Deadline

"Payment of the 2027 Customs Broker Permit User Fee is due no later than January 29, 2027."

Why the amount changed

The fee is adjusted for inflation under the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) and CBP regulations at 19 CFR 24.22. CBP says the $190.88 amount was first announced on 31 July 2026 in CBP Decision 26-14, Customs User Fees To Be Adjusted for Inflation in Fiscal Year 2027.

Who it affects
