Net Tonnage
A measure of a ship’s usable cargo volume, used for port dues and canal charges.
A dimensionless measure of the volume of a vessel’s cargo-carrying space, calculated by formula. It is a volume measure rather than a weight, despite the name, and it drives port dues, canal tolls and registration fees.
