Consolidator
A party that combines multiple shippers’ cargo into full loads and issues its own transport documents.
A company that assembles small consignments into full container loads, buys carriage as a full load and issues its own house transport documents to each shipper.
The shipper therefore contracts with the consolidator rather than the ocean carrier, and it is the consolidator’s document and terms that govern the claim.
