Deferred Rebate
A rebate paid to a shipper only after a further period of exclusive custom, historically used to secure loyalty.
A discount withheld and paid only if the shipper continues to ship exclusively with the same carrier through a further period. Used by liner conferences to lock in custom; restricted or prohibited under competition law in many jurisdictions.
