Countervailing Duties
Duties imposed to offset a subsidy given to producers in the exporting country, where that subsidy injures a domestic industry.
Additional duties applied to counteract a subsidy received by producers in the exporting country, where an investigation finds the subsidised imports injure a domestic industry.
Often confused with antidumping duty. The distinction is what is being remedied: dumping is a pricing behaviour by an exporter, subsidy is support by a government. Both can apply to the same goods at once.
