Container Freight Station
A facility where less-than-container-load cargo is packed into, or unpacked from, containers.
A facility where cargo from several shippers is packed into containers, and where inbound containers are stripped and the contents released to individual consignees.
It is where LCL shipments begin and end. CFS charges are billed separately from freight and are a frequent surprise on LCL invoices. Abbreviated CFS.
