Certificate of inspection
A document confirming that goods were examined before shipment and matched what was specified.
Issued after a pre-shipment inspection, recording that the goods were examined and found to match the contract or an applicable standard as to quantity, quality, packing or marking.
Some importing countries mandate inspection by a nominated agency, in which case clearance depends on the certificate rather than on the buyer’s satisfaction.
