CE Mark

A manufacturer’s declaration that a product meets the EU requirements that apply to it.

A marking affixed by the manufacturer declaring that a product conforms to the applicable European Union requirements for health, safety and environmental protection.

Two misunderstandings are common. It is a manufacturer’s own declaration for most product categories, not a certificate issued by an authority - though some categories require a notified body to be involved. And it is not a quality mark or a mark of origin; it says the product may lawfully be placed on the market, nothing more.
