Bundling
Securing several pieces into one handling unit so they move and are counted as a single item.
Strapping or banding individual pieces - pipe, timber, bar - into one unit for handling.
It reduces handling cost and loss, and it changes the piece count on the transport document, which is what the carrier’s receipt and any shortage claim are measured against.
